Field notes Solitary. Stem 2.5-6 m tall, 9-12 cm in diam., green, usually with a conspicuous layer of white wax and therefore appearing white. Leaves 11, sometimes with dead leaves hanging; sheath 78 cm long, with thick light brown indumentum, a short distal portion appearing like the petiole and scarcely distinguished by its fiber scars; petiole 0-10 cm long, green, 2.8 cm wide, slightly concave above; rachis 168 cm long, adaxially flattened for 86 cm, green; pinnae 102-109 on each side, arranged in groups of (1-) 2- 4- (-6) in each group proximal pinnae slightly ascending and the distal pinnae slightly descending. The leaf not strongly crisp. Infructescence interfoliar, 4 at same stage: prophyll 3 cm long, 7.5 cm wide, peduncular bracts 5, light brown, 47-155 cm long, inserted within the basal 35 cm; peduncle 133 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, dorsiventrally compressed, green with thin light brown indumentum; rachis 65 cm long, green like the rachillae; rachillae 55, the longest one 31 cm long, inserted near the middle of the rachis; fruits green, glossy.
