Field notes Solitary understory palm. Stem 75 cm long from base to crownshaft. Number of internodes 17, basal 5 nodes with adventitious roots, orange-brown, up to 0.7 cm in diam. Stem green with pronounced brown nodes. Leafsheath 23 cm long, encircling the stem for 16 cm, thus forming a crownshaft. Crownshaft green, slightly striped, largest diam 1.8 cm. Petiole 23 cm long, green. Cross section flat above, rounded below, with rounded margin between the two surfaces. Diam just below pinnae 0.6 cm. Rachis 49 cm long. Number of pinnae 2 x 5, regularly distributed, erect especially the basal ones. Pinnae green, falcate. Basal pinnae 24 x 8 cm, middle pinnae 24 x 8.5 cm, apical pinnae 18.5 x 7 cm. Inflorescences: 1 bud, 30 cm long at 1st node below the crownshaft, 1 inflorescence at 2nd node below crownshaft. Inflorescence: prophyll inserted 0.7 cm above the base, 2 7 cm long, splitting up abaxially, 1st peduncular bract; inserted 1.7 cm above the base, 6.5 cm long, splitting up abaxially. 2nd peduncular bract inserted 5 cm above the base, 12.5 cm long, splitting up abaxially. 3rd peduncular bract inserted 12 cm above the base, 23 cm long splitting up abaxially. 4th peduncular bract inserted 23 cm long above the base, 31 cm long, splitting up abaxially. 5th peduncular bract inserted 35 cm above the base, 19 cm long. Peduncle 58 cm long, green, circular, diam just below rachillae 0.6 cm. Rachis 3 cm long. Number of rachillae 7, 20 - 25 cm long pendulous. Rachis, rachillae, flowers green. All material to AAU.
