Field notes Solitary palm, 5.5 m tall. Trunk 4.2 m, diam 3 cm. Internodes near the base 16 cm long, apical internode 1.8 cm long. Trunk green, glabrous with brown nodes.Number of leaves 3 andl juvenile. Leafsheath 53 cm long, encircling the stem for 38 cm thus forming a crown shaft. Crownshaft light green, largest diam 6.5 cm (near the base).Petiole 5 cm long, channeled, diam just below lower most rachillae 1.5 x 1.5 cm. Rachis 123 cm long, adaxially angled, abaxially rounded. Number of pinnae 2 x 21. Pinnae light green with prominent veins, slightly falcate. Regularly distributed except for minor displacements, erect inserted. Basal pinnae 30 x 4 cm, middle pinnae 52 x 10 cm, apical pinnae 28 x 4.5 cm.Inflorescence: At 2nd node below the crownshaft 4 inflorescences; 1 past flowering, 1 at anthesis, 2 buds. At 1st node below the crownshaft 4 buds.Flowers and buds at each node adnate at base.One bud supported by lowermost leafsheath.Inflorescence at anthesis: prophyll, inserted 0.7 cm above the base. 26 cm long, furrowed, brown, dry, split up laterally along right side.First peduncular bract inserted 3 cm above the base, 22 cm long, furrowed, brown, dry splitting up laterally in both sides. Second peduncular bract, inserted 11 cm above the base, 17 cm long, furrowed, dry, brown, splitting up laterally along both sides.Third peduncular bract inserted 12 cm above the base, deciduous. Fourth peduncular bracts inserted 16.5 cm above the base, deciduous.Peduncle 20.5 cm long, cross section circular, diam just below lowermost rachillae 1 cm, white.Rachis 17 cm long. Number of rachillae 40, lowermost rachillae 10.5 cm long, apical rachillae 5 cm long. Rachis, rachillae and flowers white. Duplicates: AAU, QCA, QCNE, COL. Dupl. 4.
