| Field notes | Caespitose. Trunk 425 cm tall, 8.5 cm in diam. at base, smooth, internodes 15 cm long at base, 4 cm long at top. Crown of 7 spreading leaves, with a pseudocrownshaft; sheath 57 cm long, open to the base but clearly sheathing, reddish towards the base, green towards the top; petiole absent; rachis 166 cm long, rounded below, angled above, triangular in the middle of the blade; blade with 47 pinnae per side, regularly inserted along the rachis in one plane (patulous), horizontally spreading; basal pinnae 28 x 0.5 cm; middle pinnae 49 x 4 cm; apical pinnae 17 x 2 cm. Infructescence 2 infrafoliar; buds 2 infrafoliar and 2 interfoliar (obvious). Infructescence base swollen, surrounding the stem; peduncle 13 cm long, 2.5 cm thick at the top, red rachis 35 cm; rachillae 89 -93 regularly inserted spreading to all sides, longest rachillae 37 cm (at base). Inflorescence bud: prophyll 44 cm long, 8,5 cm wide, dorsiventrally compressed, strongly bicarinate and bifid at apex inserted 4 cm from base; peduncular bract 80 cm long round in cross section, 5 cm in diam., with acute tip; light brown. |
