Field notes Solitary understory palm. Stem 1 m tall, erect, inter- nodes 10-15 cm long, green, smooth, covered with old leafsheath. Crown of 5 erect leaves with entire blade. Sheath 20 cm, encircling the stem, petiole 30 cm smooth, rounded below with a narrow groove above, blade 70x30 cm, bifid at apex, tapering to the base. Inflore- scence infrafoliar, erect with erect rachillae, pedun- cle 30 cm long with remains of old peduncular bracts, rachis 5 cm, rachillae 15 cm.
