Field notes . Solitary understorey palm, 2 - 3 m tall. Base of stem (20 cm) ascending with adventitious roots. Stem 150 cm tall, straight, erect, 1.5 cm in diam, green, smooth, internodes ca. 10 cm long, with old leafsheaths remaining as a thin cover. Crown of four spreading leaves, petioles emerging 10 - 15 cm apart. Sheath of lower leaf 27 cm, completely encircling the stem, green, smooth. Petiole 45 cm long, 0,8 cm thick, grooved adaxially near the base, round towards the blade. Blade 85 x 50 cm, with 6 pinnae per side; pinnae soft, smooth, broadly sigmoid; basal pinnae 22 x 5 cm, middle pinnae 29 x 7 cm, apical pinnae 32 x 10 cm. Inflorescence infrafoliar arching away from the stem and the rachillae bending upwards. Peduncle covered with old wilted remains of peduncular bracts, peduncle 50 cm; rachis 6 cm; rachillae 9, 20 cm long, light green. Duplicates: AAU, QCA.
