| Field notes | On terra firme. Solitary acaulescent. Subterranean stem 6 x 2.5 cm, erect, with 1 mm thick roots emerging from the nodes. Leaves 9, erect. Sheath not distinguishable from petiole. Sheath and petiole 30- 62 cm long, rounded below, flat above, with sharp margins on lower on third, terete on upper two thirds. Rachis 25-35 cm long, rounded below, ridged above, smooth and green in old leaves, brown furfuraceous in young leaves. Pinnae 5-7 per side, sigmoid, unequally wide with 2-6 primary nerves; basal pinnae 11.5 x 2.5 cm, midlle pinnae 13.5 x 4.5 cm, apical pinnae 11 x 4 cm. Inflorescence interfoliar, erect, spikelike; peduncle 22 cm long, slightly dorsiventrally flattened, greenish orange at base, orange apically, prophyll and peduncular bract caducous; rachis 7 x 0.9 cm, orange, apiculate. |
