| Field notes | Solitary. Stem ca. 1.5 m tall, 1.5 cm thick, internodes 1.5-2 cm long, light brown, smooth, stem clearly ringed. Leaves ca. 15, erect, inserted along the upper 30 cm of the stem. Sheath and petiole not distinct in lower leaves, sheath open to the base, ca. 27 cm long together, rounded below, flat above with sharp margins. Blade entire, wedgeshaped at base, bifid at apex 75 x 22 cm. Inflorescences interfoliar, spicate, pendulous, peduncle 10 cm long, dorsiventrally flattened, red, prophyll (and peduncular bract?) fibrous, persistent, rachis 20 x 1 cm long, immature fruits green, subspherical. |
