| Field notes | Cespitose, 7 stems close together, 10 - 50 cm tall, 15 cm diam. covered with old leaf sheaths. Leaves ca. 6 per stem; sheath 80 cm long, open to base, fibrous at apex; petiole 95 cm long, rounded below, grooved above; rachis 350 cm long, distinct ridge above; pinnae stiff and in one plane, of different widths, to 55 per side, from 1 - 8 nerved, basal pinna 100 x 8 cm, middle pinna 113 x 8 cm, apical one 52 x 13 cm. Inflorescences interfoliar, brown, erect at anthesis and enclosed by peduncular bract, peduncle 65 cm long; prophyll 72 x 5,5 cm, becoming fibrous; peduncular bract 90 cm, persistent, fibrous; rachis 36 cm; rachillae 37, 8 - 26 cm long. Very uncommon, only 2 plants seen near river. No common name. |
