Field notes Stem solitary erect, grey, rough with lenticels at internodes, 12 m tall, 13 cm diam. at base, 12 cm diam. at apex, supported by a cone of spiny stilt roots, 20, 120x4 cm. Leaves 6; sheaths persistent and hanging down, forming a greyish-brown crownshaft 175 cm long; petiole 44 cm (with 43 cm long "ligute") round below, flat above, 4 cm diam.; rachis 247 cm long, round below, ridgend above with rich reddish-brown tomentum; pinnae 29 per side, alternate, pendulous, all in one plan, lower one 55x11 cm, middle one 120x10,5 cm, apical 50x20 cm, entire at first, pinnae with proximal margin entire, distal margin. Lowest fertile node with 4 buds (male, male, male, male.) next node with 6 buds (female, male, male, male, male, female) next node with 4 buds ((female?) male, male, male) next node with 4 buds next node with 4 buds next node with 4 buds next node with 6 buds Staminate inflorescence with prophyll rotten, all braches whitish inside, first peduncular bract 8 cm long, tubular; second peduncular bract 8 cm long, tubular; third peduncular bract 13 cm long, tubular; fourth peduncular bract 19 cm long, tubular; fifth penducular bract split abaxially, white below, densely brown tomentose above and hooded, 28 cm long; sixth peduncular bract split abaxially, 28 cm long; seventh peduncular bract 27 cm long; eigth peduncular bract 26,5 cm long; ninth peduncular bract 24 cm long; peduncle white, fleshy, 26x3 cm; rachis 16 cm long; rachillae not coiled in bud, 36, 5-14 cm long. Pistillate inflorescence collected from separate tree. Buds solitary per node and all pistillate. Within crownshaft all buds solitary. Female inflorescence: Prophyll rotten; first peduncular bract tubular 14x7 cm; second peduncular bract 17x6 cm, tubular; third peduncular bract split abaxially 25 cm; fourth peduncular bract 34 cm; fifth peduncular bract 34 cm; sixth peduncular bract 33cm; seventh peduncular bract 29 cm; peduncle 17x3.5 cm; rachis 24 cm; rachillae flattend or base rounded above, spirally arranged, 35, 5-14 cm long.
