| Field notes | Stem solitary, green, smooth, 6 m tall, 8 cm diam, nodes 15-20 cm apart. Leaves 6; sheaths forming a prominent green crownshaft 65 cm long; petiole 25 cm long, channelled above, rounded below with sharp margins; rachis 130 cm long, ridged above, rounded below; pinnae 25 per side, lower one 15 x 1 cm, middle one 86 x 6 cm, upper one 48 x 4 cm, evenly spaced and all in one horizontal plane. Inflorescence buds 6 per node, all staminate, pendulous at anthesis, joined at base by a rim on the stem; peduncle 28 cm long with prophyll and 3 bracts; rachis 22 cm long; rachillae 48, 3-9 cm long, unbranched. |
