Field notes Solitary. Stem erect, 12 - 13 m tall. Base with cone of stiltroots. Leaves 5, spreading. Petiole ca. 30 cm, rachis ca. 2 m long. Pinnae 30 per side, drooping in one plane. Inflorescence buds 5 per node. Two upper nodes with buds. 3rd node with one staminate inflorescence in lateral position and 4 scars from fallen buds or inflorescences. Staminate inflolescence erect with drooping rachis and rachillae. Peduncle ca. 30 cm long. Peduncular bracts six, three lower ones cylindrical and sheathing, three upper ones sheathing at base, expanded at top, ca. 25 cm long and 12 cm wide at widest part. Rachis 7 cm long. Rachillae 7, ca. 20 cm long, densely covered with male flowers, each with 14 stamens (only one counted).
