| Field notes | Cespitose. Stem procumbent, 30 cm long, 5 cm thick with roots all along, internodes very short, yellowish brown. Leaves 9, erect, arching, sheath 15 cm long, open to the base, slightly fibrous at the edges, creamy white inside, green with brown cover (pubescens) on outside . Petiole 1 - 1. 2 m long, lower one third rounded below, flat above with distinct but not sharp margins, upper 2 thirds terete, green, smooth. Rachis 64 cm long, rounded below, ridged above, green smooth. Pinnae 4 - 8 per side, alternate, sigmoid, long acuminate, unequally wide with 5 - 15 primary veins, basal pinna 37 x 5 cm, middle pinna 38 x 7 - 3 cm, upper pinna 32 x 8 cm. Infructescence interfoliar, erect. Peduncle 100 - 133 cm, terete, green becoming orange apically at fruiting. Prophyll 23 cm long, 2 cm wide, persistent. Peduncular bract inserted 20 cm above the peduncle, almost at the apex of the prophyll, persistent, brown fibrous, 30 cm long. Rachis unbranched, spikelike, orange at fruiting, 18 cm long, ca . 8 mm thick, bending to the side (no upper lip on the pits?). Fruits green becoming black, subglobose ca. 8 x 6 mm. Siona: Ocó-puí.
