| Field notes | Cespitose. Stem 3 m tall, 1 cm diam. smooth greenish brown; internodes 3-8 cm long, stem clearly ringed. Leaves 7, erect. Sheath 13 cm long, not clearly distinct from petiole, closed petiole 52 cm long, rounded below, flat above with distinct but not sharp margins. Rachis 35 cm long, rounded below, ridged above, green and glabrous in old leaves, densely brown tomentose in young leaves. Pinnae 3, opposite, per side, lower pair erect and bending out, 2 upper pairs all in one plane, all pinnae slightly sigmoid. Lower pinnae 32 x 7 cm, midlle pinnae 36 x 8 cm, apical pinnae 29 x 10 cm. Inflorescence infrafoliar erect at anthesis and in fruit; peduncle 8 cm long, slightly flattened, reddish tomentose. Prophyll 11 cm long, present before anthesis, absent in fruit. Rachis 22 cm long, 7 mm diam, unbranched, greenish before anthesis, red in fruit. Immature fruits green, globose. |
