Stem solitary except for single sucker at base, basal 60 cm covered with 5 mm thick, yellow, adventitious roots; 7.75 m tall, 13 cm diam at base, 14 cm diam at top; internodes basally 40 cm long, apically 17 cm long, light brown, smooth, completely spineless, cross-section with 1 cm thick dense brown sclerenchyma ring at base, very soft, top without obvious brown sclerenchyma ring and very soft. Leaves 14, originating along the 2 apical meters of stem, the base of the lowermost leaf encircling the stem for c. 10 cm, erect for c. 1 m and narrowing to c. 5 cm, concace inside, smooth, brown, outside rounded, green with dense white mealy tomentum and a very slight covering of fine 5 mm long spines, margin of base split up into a fibrous cover that surrounds the leaf above; petiole bending away from the stem, c. 45 cm long, 5 cm wide at base, 3 cm wide at top, above concave to grooved, brown, smooth, below rounded, green with white mealy tomentum and fine spines, the margin between the 2 surfaces sharp. Blade 400 x 140 cm, pinnate; rachis 350 cm long, rounded below, green, slightly spiny, above deeply grooved at the base, the groove narrowing upwards and the flat margins becoming wider, so the apical portion of the rachis is triangular; pinnae 99 per side, reduplicate, unevenly spaced along the apex and diverging in different directions from the rachis, with fine spines along the margin, basal pinnae 49 x 1 cm, middle pinnae 24 x 4 cm, apical pinnae 28 x 6 cm. Infructescence infrafoliar, peduncle erect at base, pendulous at top and bending sideways, 45 cm long, 4 cm wide at base, 2 cm wide at top, rounded but slightly dorsoventrally flattened; prophyll not seen; peduncular bract inserted 8 cm from base, persistent, 65 cm long, clavate,4 cm wide at base, 10 cm wide 15 cm from top, apex acuminate, outside brown with fine spines mostly near the apex, inside brown, smooth; rachis 23 cm, green; rachillae 35, 30 cm basally to 7 cm apically long; fruits 5, green, 5.5 cm long, 4.5 cm wide, obovate.
