Field notes Caespitose on slope in terra firme forest, 10 stems originating from a 20 x 20 cm large area, no roots visible at the base. Stem erect or bending to a side 210-640 cm long, 2.5-4.5 cm diam at the base, 2.5 cm diam at the top; internodes 19-23 cm long at base, 2-21 cm long at apex; nodes forming c. 5 mm wide rings round the stem, internodes green. Leaves 6-8, sheath 10-15 cm long, completely encircling the stem for c. 1 cm, outside green and covered with light brown "tomentum", inside white, margin split into fibres that surround the leaf above; petiole 57 cm long, green, the base 1 cm wide, rounded below, flat or shallowly grooved above with a sharp margin between the two surfaces, below the blade c. 7 mm wide, cross-section rounded and slightly flattened above; blade paripinnate 105 cm long, 75 cm wide; rachis 77 cm long, green, below rounded covered with whitish tomentom when young, glabrous when old; pinnae 20 per side, reduplicate, falcate, equal, each one with one prominent midrib and 2-3 almost as prominent additional ribs on each side of the midrib, the two apical pinnae 7-8 ribbed and about 2 times as wide as the others, basal pinnae 33 cm long, 2.2 cm wide, middle pinnae 45 cm long, 4.5 cm wide, apical pinnae 40 cm long, 7 cm wide. Inflorescence bud in axil of lowest leaf; prophyll 13 x 5 cm, acute, white basally, green with grey "tomentum" apically, peduncular bract (unexposed) 11 x 3.5 cm, acute, branches straight. Inflorescence infrafoliar at 3rd node below lowest leaf, bright orange; prophyll and peduncular bract deciduous; peduncle 8 cm long, 1.2 cm wide, with scars from prophyll and peduncular bract right at the widened base; rachis 14 cm long; rachillae 12 with 8, 7, 4, 3, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 flowering branches; basal rachilla 11 cm long with the flowering branches up to 13 cm long, apical rachilla consisting of an 11 cm long flowering branch, the flowering branches 5 mm thick with pits all around. Fruits 14 mm long, 10 mm wide, rounded at the base, bluntly acute at the top, green; exocarp thin, mesocarp c. 1 mm, white, fleshy; endocarp thin bony; seed 11 x 8 mm. Duplicates: AAU, QCA, QCNE
