Stem 170 cm long, 9 mm diam, black, smooth, ringed, internodes 12 cm (basally) to 5 cm (apically) long, base emerging straight from the soil, roots originating 10-15 cm below the ground. Leaves 6, inserted 1-5 cm apart, spreading; sheath green, 16 cm long, closed except for the apical 3 cm that splits up in a fibrous margin; petiole 13 cm long, 3 mm wide, rounded below, narrowly grooved above with a round margin between lower and upper surface, green; rachis 30 cm, rounded below, ridged above; blade entire, bifid, 65 cm long, 35 cm wide. Infructescence infrafoliar, peduncle 5 cm long, 8 mm wide, dorsiventrally flattened curving sideways so the tips point down, green with brown covering; prophyll inserted at the base, 7.5 cm long, 1 cm wide, bicarinate, acute, splitting abaxially, brown; peduncular bract inserted near base, 13 cm long, 1 cm wide, lanceolate apically, pointed round in cross-section, pointing in a horizontal direction, brown; rachis 1 cm long; rachillae 5, simple 4-5 cm long; fruits globose, apical residue apical, 1 mm diam., green. |
