| Field notes | Stilt-roots up to 150 cm long, black, spiny, c. 20, forming a cone. Trunk 7.5 m tall, 17 cm diam at base, 15 cm diam at middle, 13 cm diam at apex, solitary, grey. Leaves 7, sheaths forming crown-shaft 210 cm long, greyish green; petiole 40 cm long from top of crown-shaft, round, greyish white; rachis 225 cm long, round below, ridged and striate above with brown tomentum; pinnae 21 per side, with brown tomentum beneath, especially on ribs, divided into (from base) 1-4-4-5-7-7-6-8-6-6- 8-7-7-4-4-4-2-3-1-1-1 segments, these bent over at right angles at tips, but not arched. Infructescences 2, infrafoliar, oldest with peduncle covered by dense tomentum, rachillae up to 1 m long, 15 mm diam at middle. Duplicates: AAU, K, NY, QCA, QCNE. |
