| Field notes | Stem solitary, 5 m tall, 4 cm diam. Leaves 6; crown-shaft 65 cm, green with fine brown tomentum; petiole 20 cm; rachis 116 cm with 26 pinnae per side, pinnae pendulous. Inflorescence buds solitary at each node; lowest fertile node with old infructescence, 7 upper fertile nodes with one un-opened bud at each, second lowest bud all staminate, third lowest bud pistillate with some staminate flowers at base of rachillae, fourth lowest bud all pistillate but with some staminate flowers at base of rachillae, i.e. a triad of central pistillate and 2 lateral staminates; fifth lowest bud with all pistillate flowers, buds six and seven too small to observe. Flowers from nodes 3 and 5 in spirit. Duplicates: AAU, K, NY, QCA, QCNE. |
