| Field notes | Solitary tree, 6 m tall. Trunk diam. 5 cm, with 10 cm long spines in regular bands. Crown of 7 spreading leaves, each leaf c. 2.5 m long with 2 x 12 pinnae in pairs of 2 along rachis; petiole c. 70 cm long. Inflo- rescence erect in the centre of crown. This palm is very common on terra firme at Añangu, but was never observed during this visit with flowers or fruits except for this old inflorescence. |
