Field notes (F. garcia-barrigae var. ovoidea Dugand, det. C.C. Berg, 1986). Quichua: Parutu, "Yana-parutu"(Parutu = Fig). Giant tree on terra firme in forest. Two kinds of "Parutu", the other is "yura-parutu". A larva that enters the rotting trunk of this is eaten. This one the bats eat the fruit. Otherwise not good for anything. This has yellow sap - the other has white sap. The yellow sap is put on stings from the sting-ray. The sap is heated in a spoon and put on the sting so it does not hurt so much. You don´t drink it.
