| Field notes | A solitary tree. Base not seen. Trunk ca 7 m tall, 6 cm in diam below the crown, grey, smooth; internodes ca 10 cm long basally, 2-1 cm long below the crown. Crown of 13 leaves, no crownshaft; sheaths ca 30 cm long, open, with coarse fibers along the margins; petiole ca 40 cm long, flat adaxially, rounded abaxially; blade 180 x 80 cm, with 9-10 pinnae on each side, these of different width and different nos, of plications. Inflorescences 4 expanded, inserted at nodes no 6-3 below the crown, each of these ca 100 x 90 cm, peduncle 27 cm long, rachis 40 cm long, with 11 sidebranches, the lower ones branched again to 3 times; spathe 2, falling off when the inflorescence expand |
