| Field notes | Solitary treelet, base without visible adventitious roots, trunk 3 m high, 4 cm diam, internodes all with 5 cm long, black, spines that point down. Crown of ca 8 leaves, petiole 40 cm long, blade 120 cm long with ca 10 pinnae on each side. Inflorescence erect, emerging among the leaves, only inflorescence seen still enclosed in the spathe |
