| Field notes | (Euterpe sp.). A solitary tree. Trunk smooth, brown, about 20 cm in diam at the base, 12 cm in diam below the crown. Crown of about 10 leaves on a 150 cm long crownshaft. Leaves with closed, yellow sheaths with green stripes; petiole 40 cm long, flattened; blade 390 cm long, with about 100 pinnae hanging down on each side and with the tip hanging down as well. Inflorescence 2, inserted just below the crown, pointing upwards in a 45° angle and with the branches sticking out to all sides but not so muchon the upper side; peduncle 10 cm long with 2 scars; rachis 75 cm long; branches about 150 (estimated) the longest one 80 cm long; sepals and petals white, stamens and gynoecium violet.
