| Field notes | A solitary small tree. Trunk about 50 cm high, 5 cm in diam, covered with old leafsheaths and dirt. Crown of about 20 spreading leaves; blade undivided. Inflorescence originating among the lower leaves, consisting of a single, unbranched spadix which is swollen at the apical flower and fruit-bearing part; base of spadix green turning bright orange towards the top; fruits green.
