| Field notes | Solitary tree in virgin forest, but commonly seen, left after deforestation in other places. Base supported by ca 50 black spiny adventition roots forming an inverted cone ca 110 cm high and 110 cm in diam basally. Trunk grey, smooth, 15 m high, 16 cm in diam basally, 20 cm diam at 12 m? and 12 cm diam apically. Crown on 80 cm long crown-shaft, with 6-7 leaves. Leafsheats 80 cm long; petioles 45 c,; blades 340 x 200 cm with 19 pinnae on each side; each pinna divided and the base twisted on the rachis so the entire blade is 3-dimensional with the apperence of a fox´s tail. Immature inflorescencebull-horn like, inserted 60 cm below crownshaft; mature one inserted 85 cm below crownshaft; peduncle ascending and dropping; only with 1st onder branches.
