| Field notes | A solitary tree in remains of montane forest along small rivulet in area otherwise cleared for pasture. Base of tree without specialadventitious roots?. Trunk erect, 270 cm high, 10 cm diam, light brown, smooth with densely inserted leafscars. Crown of ca 13 leaves; sheats 40 cm long, 10 cm covering imature inflorescences, and forming a bu?ging part section; petiole 30 cm long; blade230 x 120 cm, pinnately with the pinnae unequally wide. Inflorescence inserted 15 cm below crown, rachis ca 1 m long, 3 x divided; ?? 1st or?? side branches; lowest side branch with 6 2nd ord?? side ?????; lowest ???? side branch with ???. 10 3rd order? side branches. Formerly used for thatching houses according to the wife of the owner of the hotel in Baeza. |
