| Field notes | Spiny tree to 10 m tall. Leafbases and rachis spiny. Leaves breaking off above base and base persisting on the trunk for some time. Inflorescence with male and female flowers on the same rachis, males maturing first. Fruits (mesocarp) eaten when young and still attached to the inflorescence. Collected fruits slightly beyond eating stage. Information from Sr. Huacatoca, guardmanat the CEPE-house at Añango. Only fruits collected. |
