| Field notes | Limit of swamp-forest and terra firme. Growing in clumps of 6-7 individuals of different height, only the tallest one (app. 8 m high) with infrutescence Base of trunk with dense cone of thin proproots; cone app. 30 cm wide and 25 cm high; individual roots less than 1 cm thick, bulbous at the tips. Trunk smooth or slightly longitudinally fissured, brown, 8 cm diam bassaly and 5 cm diam apically. Crown or crownshaft app. 55 cm long; fronds 7 or 35 cm long petioles; blades 260 x 130 cm with 66 pinnae on each side. Inflorescenceinserted app. 20 cm below base of crownshaft, with erect peduncle and dropping reddish branches. |
