| Field notes | Swamp forest. Clumps of usually 3-8 trees of different height. Trunk ascanding, blackish, with heavy scars of fallen leaves but "clean" otherwisw, app. 8 cm diam and collected specimen 3 m tall, but others up to 6 or 7 m tall. Crown of app. 20 fronds with fibrous leafbases forming clumps just below the crown, pedicel about 60 cm long, blade 415 cm long and 115 cm wide with 73 pinnae on each side, lower ones reflexed, next ones perpendicular to rachis and alternate, upper ones opposite. Male inflorescences erect with dropping the originating among old leafbases. Female inflorescences on different trees (dioecious), originating among old leafbases. Mature infrutescences globose, inserted below the crown |
