| Field notes | Quichua: Piton. A large many stemmed tree with large leaves clustered at the tops of the stems. Flowers and fruits on the trunk. Uses: To provoke vomiting and against tumors. Preparations: The bark is boiled in water and the extract is drunk to provoke vomiting. The seeds are ground to a firely divided mass and placed on the tumor which will the heal. |
