| Field notes | "Quichua: Ayahuasca, Yaya-huasca (huasca; Yaya= amargo, bitter-liana. Liana. Sterile. Uses: Halucinogenic in connection with curing. Preparation: The stem is mashed and cooked in water in a pof until a sticky mass remains. To make the preparation mon potent it may be miced with some 10 leaves of ""Shailipanga"" also called ""Yahe"". Usually the drink is only taken by the ""curandero"" but in some cases the sick person may be requested to take it as well." |
