| Field notes | Quichua: Macha quimanda (=Papa china contra la colebra). Español: Papa china. Uses: Against snakebites. Preparations: The tubercle is cut open and rubbed against the bitten part. Contraindications: The cut-open tubercle should not touch other parts of the skin than where the bite is because it affects the skin. The curative effect is not certain, but the reason for this is not known. |
