Field notes Quichua: Huacu, Tanambo. Español: Barbasco. Arbusto de 2 metros de altura. Bracteas carnosas. Usos: Veneno de peces. Preparacion: The leaves are mashed in a pot and then thrown in the water. The fish die in a minut, but the water does not remain poisened for very long. Used in the dry season only because a higher concentration is obtained in the water with less effort and also because the fish are less dispersed in this season. Contraindications: Not known.
