| Field notes | Clustering rattan climbing in 7-8 m canopy. .Ca. 25 leaves on stem. Stem 1 cm diameter, light dusty green to ivory, with dense, papery, whitish-brown indumentum. Internodes 20 cm. Leaf sheaths fresh green, slightly variegated, with silverish indumentum when young. Spines to 1.5 cm long, light brown with pale brown, swollen base, somewhat grouped in partial collars, leaving imprenssions in sheath. Ochrea to 1 cm, papery. Leaf cirrate, ca 250 cm lang incl. 10-15 cm petiole and 100 cm cirrus. Petiole and rachis with silverish indumentum and scattered short, light brown spikes. 17 pinnae per side, irregular, mostly in groups of 2, but not opposite to each other. Pinnae cucullate, concolorous, fresh green, slightly spreading in different places. Inflorescence 75 cm, branched twice, 5 first order branches, 10 cm apart. 9-10 rachillae per first-order brach, 2 cm apart, 3 cm long. Bracts tightly sheathing, grainy green with pale yellowish-brown spines, mostly in distal part, and silvery indumentum. Flowers very dense, young fruits globose, 8 mm diameter, grassy green.
