Field notes Clustering, acaulescent mangrove palm. 6-10 leaves in crown, regularly pinnate, to 8 m long, somewhat arching. Pinnae 40-60 per side, slightly ascending, bright green, abaxially with ramenta. Inflorescences bisexual, female apically, male on lateral branches with up to 20 bracts per inflorescence. Lowest bract dark green, fleshy, other bracts pale brown, leathery. Bracts up to 45 cm long. Up to 7 male lateral branches, each branching up to 6 times, presenting radillae at same level as female flowers. Visited by stingless bees at 10:30. Infructescence 20 cm tall and 25 cm wide, with up to 70 fruits. Fruits 5-10 cm at widest point, 2-5 at slimmest point, ca 10 cm long. Flat with raised edges
