Field notes Clustering palm to 5m tall, stem 9 cm diameter, internodes brown, 5 cm, nodal scars inconspicious, <1 cm. 16 leaves in crown, palmate, old leaves somewhat persistent. Leaf sheath 9 cm wide, 25 cm long, dusty olive green, keeled, margins disintegrating into net-like fibres. Petiole 150 cm with black recurved spines. Lamina sub-circular, split into 12 segments per side. Mid segment 80 cm, basal segment 50 cm. 2-5 fold, splitting between folds. Inflorescences interfoliar, branched to 2 orders. Prophyll ivory with brown indumentum, 20-40 cm long, 7 cm wide. 15-35 cm between 1st order branche, Bracys dark to pale green with whitish-brown indumentum. 1st order branches 15-35 cm long, rachillae 10-30 cm, sparsely covered with whitish indumentum. Fruit ovoid, glossy green, 8 x7 mm.
