| Field notes | Clustering palm, erect, ca 4 m tall, perhaps climbing when larger. Stem 6 cm diameter, leaf sheath pale green with black spines to 4 cm long, grouped in partial whorls, with pale swollen base. Leaf ca 350 cm, petiole 40-60 cm, rachis ca 300 cm incl. 40 cm cirrus. 60 pinnae/side, regular but not neatly in pairs, in one plane.
