| Field notes | Large rosettes in dense populations in creek, almost filling up the entire stream for its length. Each rosette 2-3 m tall with maybe 20-30 linear leaves. Inflorescence central in rosette, on erect peduncle, reaching about half the length of the rosette leaves, shaped like a ball to 10 cm in diam with flowers densely inserted on a swollen receptacle. The whole inflorescence being supported by one - or more commonly two - long linear bracts. |
