| Field notes | Cespitose understory small palm with few 5 cm long visible roots. Stem erect, 1 m high, 1 cm diam with 5 cm long, green internodes that are longer than the stem diameter. No crownshaft. Leaves 5 per stem; sheaths open; petiole 10 cm long, margined with 4 cm long, black spines. Rachis 60 cm long, Lamina entire, bifid, flat with one segment per side. Peduncular bract 7 cm long, brown, woody. |
