| Field notes | Solitary palm. Stem 7 m tall with persistent leaf bases, dbh. (including the persistent leafbases): 75 cm. The pinnae are in a vertical position due to a twisting of the leaf rachis. With four infructescences with premature fruits along with many old infructescences and inflorescences pendent on the trunk. The palm with two types of inflorescences, one with both male and female flowers and one with only female flowers. Measures from a mixed inflorescence: peduncle 150 cm, rachis 75 cm, no. of rachillae > 100. Measures from a male inflorescence: rachis 71 cm, no. of rachillae > 100. Vernacular name: Lucata (Quichua). Leaves used for thatch. |
