| Field notes | Caespitose liana with four stems. Stems to 30 m long, diameter 5 cm, armed with spines. The leaves with spines on the rachis were attached over a 5 m long part of the stem. Vernacular name: Supai chunda (Quichua). Arrows are made from the leaf rachis (the arrow point being the spines on the apical part of the rachis) by shamans to be used in ceremonies.
