Field notes Caespitose liana with four stems. Stems to 30 m long, diameter 5 cm, armed with spines. The leaves with spines on the rachis were attached over a 5 m long part of the stem. Vernacular name: Supai chunda (Quichua). Arrows are made from the leaf rachis (the arrow point being the spines on the apical part of the rachis) by shamans to be used in ceremonies. Informant: Mercedes Mamallacta (Quichua).
