| Field notes | Solitary understory palm. This individual with erect stem but many nearby individuals with prostrate stems, stem to 55 cm tall with conspicuous nodes. Nine leaves, leaf sheath 36 cm, petiole 70 cm, rachis 116 cm, 30 pinnae per side. Infructescence with green fruits - some turning black, prophyll 35 cm, peduncle 68 cm, rachis 16 cm, rachis and rachillae yellow coloured, with 8 rachillae. Vernacular name: Puma Chincha (Quichua). Leaves occasionally used for thatch. Informant: Angel (Quichua). |
