| Field notes | Caespitose palm with four stems. Stem 5.5 m tall, DBH 11 cm. Five leaves, leaf sheath 105 cm, petiole 19 cm long and covered by up to 4 cm long spines, rachis 163 cm, pinnae in groups (4,3,3,4,4,3,4,3,4,4,3,11 - from the base towards the apex), basal pinnae of each group nearly vertical while the apical one is horizontal. One infructescence with green fruits and one creamy-yellow infrafoliar inflorescence, prophyl 27 x 9 cm - bicarinat and covered with brown pubescence but very few spines, bract 44 cm long and covered by dark brown to 2 cm long spines, peduncle 15 cm, rachis 17 cm, no. of rachillae:59, basal rachillae 23 cm, apical 12 cm. |
