Field notes Solitary palm left in occasionally flooded pasture. Stem 325 cm tall with persistent leafbases on the upper half. 15 leaves, petiole 35 cm, rachis 210 cm, no. of pinnae 2 x 55. Infructescence almost circular, 15 cm in diam. this individual with 10 infructescences. Vernacular name: Chapi, fruits are called Jinkiai (Achuar). Mesocarp as well as immature endosperm is eaten. Leaves are commonly used for thatch.
