Field notes Solitary palm. Stem 180 cm tall, dbh. 2.8 cm, with conspicuous leaf scars. Eight leaves, petiole + leaf sheath 110 cm, leaf sheath encircling the stem for 5 cm, rachis 130 cm, no. of pinnae: 2 x 30. One infrafoliar erect inflorescence with rachillae in straight angels to the rachis, pointing in all directions. In each note towards the apex successive younger buds were found. Vernacular name: Chotilla (spanish name used by the black population)
