| Field notes | Solitary understory palm with stiltroots. Stem 60 cm. tall, green and glabrous, with conspicuous nodes. Diameter at base 1.5 cm., Internodes at base 1.9 cm, nodes 0.1 cm. Diameter below lowermost leaf 1.4 cm., internodes 2.4 cm., nodes 0.1 cm. No. of leaves: 4, entire, bifid. leafsheat + petiole 44 cm., basic 3.2 cm of the leafsheat encircling the stem. Rachis 44 cm. Infrutescences: Two, spicate and orange-colored, one (with green fruits) inserted in first node below lowermost leaf, the other (with one mature, black fruit) inserted in the second node below lowermost leaf. No. of peduncular bracts: 5, including the prophyl. Prophyl inserted 0.7 cm. above the base of the peduncle, second peduncular bract inserted 3.4 cm above prophyl, third bract inserted 10 cm above, fourth inserted 16 cm above and fifth 23 cm above.
