Field notes Solitary palmtree with numerous stiltroots at the base. Stiltroots to 64 cm long, diameter to 1.6 cm, branching towards the end. Stem 4.50 m. tall, green, glabrous, bamboolike with conspicuous nodes. DBH: 5.0 cm., Internodes at BH: 15 cm., nodes at BH: 0.8 cm. Diameter below crownshaft: 4.1 cm, Internodes: 2.1 cm, Nodes 0.3 cm. No. of leaves: 4 + one very young spearleaf. Leafsheat encircling the stem for 39 cm, forming a green glaborous crownshaft. leafsheat + petiole 56 cm, Rachis 135 cm. No. of pinnae: 2 x 29, Pinnae to 59x 7 cm. and with conspicuous nerves. Infructescence : One infructescence inserted at 7'th node below crownshaft. Peduncle 7.9 cm long, at the base encircling the 1/3 of stem. No. of peduncular bracts: 5, deciduous. The prophyl inserted at the base of the peduncle, 2´bract inserted 0.6 cm above the prophyl, 3´bract inserted 1.4 cm above prophyl, 4´bract inserted 2.3 cm above prophyl, 5´bract inserted 4.2 cm above prophyl. Rachis 7.9 cm long, no. of Rachillae: 11. Fruits green, ellipsoid, 2.5 x 1.7 cm. Buds: One bud inserted in each of the first two nodes below crownshaft, and behind each of the leaves.
