Field notes Vegetation: dwarf bosque humedo montano and shrubby paramo. Compact shrub, 1 - 1.5 m; leaves semi-coriaceous, dull mid-green; calyces green with lobes tinged purplish, petals white tinged pinkish purple and with pinkish veins, filaments white, anthers cream, gynoecium green; fruits subglobose to ellipsoid, hard, glossy grass-green with whitish green blotches, mature fruits black. Locally common at 3000m in dwarf bosque
