| Field notes | Vegetation: shrubby bosque seco espinoso, and cultivation. Tree, 6 m x 20 cm diam., bark rough, deeply fissured, dark grey (younger trees with smoothis grey bark with scattered spines); leaves semicoriaceous, mid-yellow-green, slightly glossy above; basal phyllaries pale green with yellow apices, apical phyllaries rusty brown, disc florets and styles creamish, anthers orange. Bosque seco remnants and isolated trees in cultivated areas. Locally frequent |
